Future of Technology in Education Conference (FOTE10)

This year’s FOTE conference (London, 1st Oct) included many excellent presentations on amongst other things,  augmented reality (AR) applications and games, iTunes U/podcasting, integrated smartphone technologies such as campusM and a call to embrace open source.

The ‘wow’ factor was kept in check by several speakers asking just how successful has the implementation of innovative technologies been in the past? The suggestion being that support staff, educators and students certainly need more support with both the technologies and the pedagogies to broaden their appeal and usefulness.

Speakers provoked a lively real-time (and ongoing) debate on Twitter.

The Virtual Training Suite’s  conference blog Looking back on FOTE10 provides another perspective and there are many others out there!
