New display for Black History Month

Recent debates concerning the value and necessity of Black History Month (BHM) have been sparked by the fact that some of the main themes have varied little over the years. This prompted us to do something different in celebration of Black History Month. So this year IOE Library and the Race Equality Network (REN) within the institute decided to look a little closer to home for inspiration and flag up some of our own Black and Minority Ethnic (BME) academics and others from further afield. Throughout October, there will be a display within the Library of BME Academics, featuring their achievements and a selection of their publications. These cover not only race but a wide variety of research topics. Clearly the main emphasis of our collection is education but books on related disciplines such as sociology, history and psychology are also available – so, if you want to hone your knowledge of Black and Minority Ethnic academics and their areas of expertise, the IOE library is a good place to start!
