Past experience suggests that quite a lot of people will already have skipped this item based on the title, but for those of you still reading, news of two new packs for school use. The Authors’ Licensing and Collecting Society (ALCS) working in partnership with the Chartered Institute of Information and Library Professionals (CILIP) and their children’s book awards, the Carnegie and the Kate Greenaway Medals, have produced two resources aimed at copyright education.
Difficult to make copyright ‘fun’, but these packs aim to give youngsters ideas about protecting their own work and respecting other people’s. The teacher’s notes for each pack also provide useful guidance about copyright, and are forthright in their handling of this often overlooked topic.
