Two new datasets based on book citations have been added to Web of Science (WoS), and mean that the previous citation gap for this type of material will be increasingly filled.
The Library has taken up an offer from suppliers, Thomson Reuters, to enable trial access to this additional material until mid-November. Currently the new data covers citations to some 25,000 books, with new material expected to be added at a rate of 10,000 per year. Initially the book content dates from 2005 and later. To cope with the book material, extra ‘document types’ have been added to the search refining options, e.g. book, book chapter.
Please try out the new data in the next couple of weeks and let Gwyneth Price or Antony Daws in the Library have any feedback or comments. Access to this additional material comes at a price so we won’t be subscribing unless we think it is good value for money.
Access to WoS is via Web of Knowledge – and then select the Web of Science tab.
