The British Library regularly opens its doors to PhD students and we recommend you go to one of the Doctoral Open Days advertised below if you are unfamiliar with the BL’s collections.
The Open Days are arranged so that you can find out about the British Library’s various print and online research collections including the newspapers, maps, datasets, manuscripts, sound archives and ephemera collections.
These events are free and you will get a chance to meet the librarians and find out how to access the collections. The British Library is only a 10-12 minute walk from the IOE, close to Kings Cross-St Pancras station.
To make the best use of the day, get a free Reader Pass before you attend the Open Day. The dates for these Open Days this term are:
- 2 November English & Drama – 19th to 21st Century
- 16 November Music
- 23 November English & Drama – Pre-1800
- 18 January History
